The declarations by Putin about the need to beef up Russia’s defense industry are empty. They are just another attempt to scare the West and placate his greedy generals with multi-billion infusions, Russia-based political expert Andrej Piontkovskij told The Apostrophe Nov. 27.
At present, Putin is reluctant to start a new wave of his military aggression in Ukraine as he is well aware of what will follow, the Russian expert said.
“His all latest diplomatic moves indicate that Putin is desperately looking for a bargain with the West. He is eager to sell allegedly constructive proposals – all aimed to stop the West from imposing the US Congress-initiated sanctions,” Piontkovskij said.
