The charges brought up against Paul Manafort in America are a windfall for the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine. They put Manafort’s former employers now members of the Opposition Block on the line, an influential political expert Volodymyr Fesenko said, speaking on ZIK TV Nov. 1.
In their charges, American prosecutors referred to Viktor Yanukovych and Manafort’s role in Ukraine when he served as Yanukovych campaign adviser. Now, prosecutors are out to establish if Manafort was paid by Yanukovych in a legal way.
“If Manafort was paid in cash or via off-shores, it will be bad news for the payers, Fesenko said.
Following its recent forays on the BPP and People’s Front, the US charges give NABU a chance to crackdown on the Opposition Block, he said.
