Passing the law cancelling deputy immunity, lawmakers are to enact a clear-cut law on the impeachment of the president, influential independent lawmaker Viktor Chumak said, speaking on ZIK TV Oct. 23.
However, it won’t be plain sailing as Rada is unwilling to adopt any legislation without leverage. The leverage exists in the continued protests of activists and NGOs outside Rada, Chumak said.
“The law on impeachment is not aimed against Poroshenko. It may even be implemented as of 2020 when Proshenko is gone. The law will regulate the balance of power,” Chumak said.
