NACB to set up task team to investigate graft in defense ministry

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau will form a special task group to investigate high-level corruption in the defense ministry, NACB Director Artem Sytnyk said Oct. 17, UNIAN reports.

Sytnyk said other cases of corruption except the one when fuel was bought for overblown prices are being investigated.

“We have assigned a group of detectives to curb corruption in the defense ministry whose budget is the largest one in Ukraine,” Sytnyk said.

Oct. 11, NACB detained deputy defense minister Ihor Pavlovskyj and head of procurements and supplies department Volodymyr Hulevych on suspicions of embezzling UAH149 mn ($5.73 mn) during the procurement of fuel for the army.
