The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution has appealed to court to allow a trial in absentia of Rada lawmaker Oleksandr Onyshchenko, SAP’s head Nazar Holodnytsky told in an interview with Censor.net Oct. 16.
Onyshchenko is charged with stealing gas and selling it at underestimated prices to his companies, pocketing over UAH740 mn ($28.5 mn).
Holodnytsky also said the case of ‘Onyshchenko tapes’ has not been closed
Apparantly hoping to stall the investigation, the fugitive lawmaker threatened to provide the tapes with incriminating evidence of highly placed officials in Pres Poroshenko’s entourage incriminated in corruption.
“So far, Onyshchenko has not provided any tapes,” Holodnytsky said.
