In his address to Verkhovna Rada Sept. 7, Pres Poroshenko proposed to change the terms of Russian gas export to Europe. He suggested that the gas be bought at the eastern border of Ukraine with Russia, not at the western border with EU as it is happening now, Ukrinform reports.
“We are expecting the Stokholm court ruling on Ukraine’s claim to Gazprom related to transit terms. We have to change the existing transit procedure whereby the Russian gas will be bought at Ukraine’s border with Russia. If so, Ukraine will render transit services to Europe, not Russia,” he said.
He stressed Ukraine has stopped buying the Russian gas since 2015 and is off Moscow's gas hook now.
