Wojciech Balczun, invited to serve as Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukraine Railways) manager a year ago, has resigned Aug. 9, ZIK reports.
“The dismissal of Balczun is a step in the right direction. Now the entire UZ board must be replaced by professional and independent managers,” Minister for Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan said.
Omelyan said he insisted on Balczun’s dismissal 10 months ago.
According to the media, W. Balczun failed to uproot graft and introduce reforms.
Prosecutors are investigating about 90 criminal cases of stealing, embezzlement, abuse of office by UZ top managers.
