Commenting to the UNN on the American sanctions against Russia, ex-foreign minister Volodymyr Ohryzko said Russia won’t be able to flout West’s efforts to bring her into line and Moscow will now know that it will pay a high price for ignoring the sanctions.
“Putin has no aces, let alone the cards, to play. What he is doing now is targeted exclusively at his domestic supporters to show them that his regime is strong,” Ohryzko said.
July 25, the Congress supported the bill on mew sanctions on Russia due to the grab of Crimea and war in Donbas.
The bill proposes to cut the maximum term of market funding for the black-listed Russian banks to 14 days and to 30 days to companies of the Russian oil/gas sector. The sanctions can be imposed on persons investing over $5 mn annually of $1 mn as a single investment in the construction of Russian export oil/gas pipelines.
Simultaneously, the bill orders the president to coordinate with the Congress any softening or cancellation of sanctions.
