Russia will scrap production of AN-148 Antonov planes when the last 2 aircraft under construction now are completed, a source in Russia’s aviation industry told journalists, Dialog reports June 27.
Russia is assembling AN-148 in Voronezh under a Ukrainian license. The situation became critical when supplies of parts from Ukraine were cut in the wake of Russia’s grab of Crimea and war in Donbas.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is stepping up plane production. A key meeting between the Antonov Corp., Ivchenko – Progress, Motor-Sich and Chinese buyers took place. Accordingly, Ukraine is to supply 50 AN-178 planes to China.
