Russia flouts UN court decision, steps up repression on Crimean Tatars

In the wake of Apr. 19 ruling by the International Court obliging Russia to lift its ban on Crimean Tatar Mejlis assembly, Moscow stepped up repression against the Tatars instead of abiding by the UN court ruling, head of Mejlis Refat Chubarov said, speaking on 112 Ukrayina TV May 4.

“The repression is systemic and unrelenting. Thereis no evidence Russia is going to abide by the court ruling,” Chubarov said.

Nor Russia is going to implement the European court on human rights decision about the observance of the rights of Crimean Tatars, he added.
