Police inform demonstrators about banned Communist symbols

In a bid to prevent the appearance of Communist symbols during May 8 (Day of Reconciliation) and May 9 (Victory Day) demonstrations, the Kyiv police issued posters showing the symbols.

The symbols include red flags and stars with Soviet emblems, portraits of Lenin and Stalin and the White Russia army band frequently worn by Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian separatist politicians in Donbas and other eastern and southern oblasts.

We will not tolerate the use of Communist symbols by pro-Russian political parties, the Opposition block above all, to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, interior minister’s adviser Zoryan Shkyryak writes in facebook May 7.
