The head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov is suspected of abusing his office and walking away with over UAH2 bn ($74 mn), 112 Ukrayina correspondent reports March 3.
Nasirov could not be subpoenaed by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives as he fled to the hospital about 21:00 March 2.
The detectives caught up with him at the hospital and handed in the subpoena.
Meanwhile, Nasirov’s lawyers say the detectives handed the subpoena when their client was unconscious.
In the morning of March 3, Nasirov’s lawyers told journalists that their client’s condition was serious and he was to take a heart surgery.
Nasirov’s ward is being guarded by NACB agents at the moment.
March 2, the Fiscal Service of Ukraine head office was searched by NACB detectives.
Meanwhile, NACB says it will push for keeping Nasirov in custody and dismissal from work.
