Law enforcement in Ukraine controlled by political parties – lawmaker

In the wake of the 2014 revolution, the allegedly reformed law enforcement agencies opened numerous cases against Yanukovych-era officials. However, none of them has been put behind bars – due to the fact they the agencies continue to be controlled by political parties, Rada lawmaker Vadym Ivchenko told ZIK Feb. 27.

Former Yanukovych officials are in cahoots with the law enforcers, with political parties turning a blind eye to corrupt official’s wrongdoings in the past, he says.

At the same time, the regime is blackmailing lawmakers by getting law enforcement to check their income declarations, Ivchenko claims.
