Police net gang smuggling foreigners to Poland

The Volyn police have exposed a criminal gang smuggling foreign students studying in Ukraine out to Poland, police report Jan. 12.

The gang consisted of its leaders, a 25-year old man, and three gangsters.

The fee for the illegal smuggling of one person across the Polish border was between $1,000 and $1,500.

In the 4 months of its operation, the gang has smuggled 12 foreigners from Congo, Guinea, and Syria, mostly students of the Ukrainian universities. 

If proven guilty, the criminals face 7 to 9 years in jail with the confiscation of property and transport means used by the smugglers.
