Lviv Academy of Land Forces staff is surprised at the growing number of applicants wishing to take its 4-year courses to become commissioned officers, ZIK tells in a story July 31.
The academy recruiters say the number of applicants has increased several times on 2015, with 5 contenders for 1 position.
Would-be officers are to take stringent tests in psychological and physical preparedness as well as exams in Ukrainian and History.
The number of women applying for studies has increased 10 in comparison with previous years.
Among the applicants this year are 150 Donbas war veterans, with some coming for their exams from the trenches.
Many applicants say they, once they serve as officers, want to reform the armed forces.
