Residents of rebel-held territories of Donbas can now listen to and watch radio and TV programs of Ukrainian stations, adviser to information minister Oleksandr Bryhynets told Interfax-Ukrayina Dec. 17.
However, it was quite difficult to restore broadcasting in some areas where towers have to be built close to the touchline. They are often under enemy fire, the official said.
About 60% of residents in rebel-held territories in Donetsk and 50% of Luhansk oblasts can watch Ukrainian TV programs.
“We appealed to the United States and European countries which completed transition to digital TV to give us obsolete analogous transmitters that can be used in Donbas,” the official said.
