According to a poll run by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, 78% of Ukrainians believe the conflict should be settled via peaceful negotiations, ZN.UA reports Oct. 5.
Merely 12.6% of respondents were for intensifying military actions, with 9.5% undecided.
Those who favored peaceful settlement were asked additional questions about the format of talks:
• of these, 19.5% were for continuing the talks in their present Normandy format (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia);
• 33.6% support a new format with the United States, EU and Russia;
• 20.8% believe the peace talks should be conducted by Ukraine and Russia;
• 11.7% of respondents believe the talks should be held between Ukraine and leaders of the two breakaway republics without any international negotiators;
• 13.4% were undecided.
