The 400-strong newly formed police unit will start patrolling the streets of Lviv tomorrow on Aug. 25.
Its officers have been selected in a rigorous contest from about three thousand applicants.
To take the oath from new officers and unveil their unit, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov came to Lviv on the eve, ZIK reports.
In Odesa, the new police come into operation the same day, Aug. 25.
“We will soon announce the selection campaign in eight more oblast capitals,” Avakov said.
He also said the new road police unit will be commissioned to patrol the Kyiv-Zhytomyr highway.
