SBU Director Valentyn Nalyvajchenko told journalists May 7 that his agency had detained several persons suspected of funding from abroad late April massive protests disguised as miners’ strikes, ZIK reports.
“We have detained those who were delivering the money provided by ex-Premier Azarov and needed to pay the hired goons in Kyiv,” he said.
The Apr. 22-24 protests took place outside the presidential office, cabinet and legislature. Some of the protesters were true miners who criticized fuel and coal minister Demchyshyn’s policy.
Judging by the aggressive behavior of protesters, the experts assumed that the protests were rent-a-crowd rallies, accusing Donbas tycoon Rinat Akhmetov of masterminding them, ZIK reports.
