Lviv city council lawmakers have proposed opening free canteens for the poor people in the city.
Lawmaker Ivan Hrynda says the ongoing crisis and currency devaluation pushed up the prices for food, pharmaceuticals and utilities, which many city residents cannot afford.
Families with many children and the poor are the most vulnerable groups, he said.
The lawmaker proposed setting up chains of free canteens in every district where the poor can have a meal at least once a day.
He proposed to the city social services to make a list of those who can use the canteens.
