40 judges refuse to be screened for corruption, go to court to contest dismissals

About 40 Ukrainian judges refused to undergo lustration (screening) for corruption and provide any information about their assets, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko said Jan. 28, Ukrayinska Pravda says.

“The judges involved are those to be dismissed under the anti-corruption law. We are closely monitoring any litigation going on,” he said.

Currently, 67 prosecutors, 17 ex-tax administration and 11 ex-SBU officials are trying to contest their dismissals, he said.

The justice ministry is conducting the screening of 1,360 officials, the minister said.
