The interior ministry ordered twice as many patrolmen in the cities to ward off provocations by terrorists. The police also set up 11 road checkpoints in Lviv, city council announced Jan. 27.
The checkpoints will be manned by the police and ‘Lviv’ volunteer battalion servicemen. Their instructions are to look for terrorists, weapons and explosives.
The police will inspect not only the cars from other cities but also those with Lviv number plates.
In Lviv, patrolmen will guard government buildings, gas, water and electricity utility companies.
Similar security precautions have been taken in all Ukrainian cities.
