Lviv mayor’s house attacked with grenade

Unidentified persons attacked Mayor Andry Sadovy’s house with a grenade, apparently using a bazooka. This is the second attack in 3 months,our correspondent reports Dec. 27.

The grenade hit the wall of the building. No one was injured as the mayor’s family was away in the Carpathian mountains.

Andry Sadovy is the leader of the Samopomich (Self-Help) party which made headlines winning 12 seats in the legislature and entering in a coalition with two major democratic parties.

Being offered the post of a vice-premier, Andry Sadovy turned down the proposal, saying the situation in Lviv is critical, with criminal leaders pushing for power.
