Addressing the last session of his cabinet today, Premier Arseny Yatseniuk said that, following lustration, 28,000 government officials have been sacked in the past 9 months, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
The lustration (screening) of officials will continue, Yatseniuk said.
The fabulously inefficient government service is another hurdle on the way to the reform of management, Yatseniuk explained.
His cabinet has also cut the number of controlling agencies by half and cut their functions also by half.
“Six months ago we banned all kinds of checks – and nothing bad has come out of it,” he said.
