Saakishvili tells about Putin’s mad plans regarding Crimea

Georgia ex-president Mikhail Saakishvili advises Ukrainians to focus on the situation on the peninsula. He is convinced Russia president Putin “is scheming to do something there.”

Speaking on Kanal 5 Feb. 24, Saakishvili said, “The bad news is that Putin is up to something in Crimea. The good news is that you know what he is going to do.

He had tested this scenario in Southern Ossetia and Abkhazia. He is issuing Russian passports to Crimean residents. Then he will start provocations allegedly ‘to defend the Russian speaking population,” Saakishvili said.

The Russians are eager to build a corridor linking Abkhazia, Krasnodar, Crimea, Odesa, Moldova to TransNistria, he claimed.

To disrupt Putin’s mad plans, Ukraine authorities should reach out to Crimean residents to counter the Russian propaganda, M. Saakishvili said.
