The police in Ternopil exposed a ring of anti-corruption committee officials who were involved in taking bribes for appointing committee staff, our correspondent reports Nov. 13.
Future officials of the Western regional anti-corruption committee had to pay between $2,000 and $10,000 for getting cushy appointments.
However, the candidates were taken for a ride by committee officials and didn’t get their jobs.
Eventually, the cheated candidates informed the police.
The police opened a criminal investigation against 5 committee officials who had collected about $62.5 thousand in bribes.
