The opposition is prepared to sit at a round table with the Regions and work toward reaching a national unity on condition that Yulia Tymoshenko is freed, Batkivshchyna’s Arsen Avakov said, speaking on the TBi channel, ZN.UA reports June 4.
“In her letter, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed that moving toward Europe and democratic values is of top priority for Ukraine and must override the opposition’s other goals,” Avakov said
Tymoshenko criticized the Regions and opposition for rocking the boat and trying to drive a wedge between Ukrainians. We have to strive for the national unity, Avakov noted.
Avakov quoted Batkivshchyna leader Arseny Yatseniuk for confirming the proposal by the opposition to come to the negotiations table with Regions – if Yulia Tymoshenko is freed.
“We will sit the table and speak about only our national interests,” Avakov said.
In her letter, Tymoshenko proposed a national round table including the representatives of all parties. “I am asking the politicians of all shades to come to the table of negotiations for the sake of our children, the future of Ukraine and adopt a moratorium on fanning language and historical issues, and stop arrogant politicizing,” Tymoshenko wrote.
