Pres Yanukovych told journalists March 1 that he will consider whether to give clemency to Yury Lutsenko after the Supreme Court of Appeals considers Lutsenko’s appeal.
The incumbent insisted that the SCA ruling should come first. “I do not wish to pull my rank on the court, it’s an independent body,” the incumbent assured.
However, Yury Lutsenko recently accused the regime of feet-dragging, saying the officials are not in a hurry to consider his appeal.
Lutsenko wants his case considered by the European Court on Human Rights, and the SCA is the final court in Ukraine following which he can appeal to the ECHR.
