The three major opposition leaders, Yatseniuk, Klitschko and Tyahnybok, will not come up soon with a single candidate for presidency in 2015, Yury Lutsenko told Gazeta.ua Feb. 17.
“2013 and part of 2014 is likely to be spent to demonstrate the potential of every three opposition parties to give voters a chance to estimate which opposition leader is the best,” Lutsenko said.
He also noted that Yulia Tymoshenko should not be discarded.
“The main player in the 2015 presidential campaign should not be forgotten. She will be a magnet to form the campaign’s potential. In addition to Klitschko, Tyahnybok and Yatseniuk a serious player will be Petro Poroshenko,” Lutsenko went on.
The opposition will face a formidable challenge from the Yanukovych “family.” The regime will use law enforcement agencies to promote such front runners and spoilers as Medvedchuk and Khoroshkovsky, Lutsenko said.
The opposition now demonstrates a good teamwork in the Rada. But it should rely more on other tactics of influencing voters, not merely talk shows, Lutsenko opined.
Each opposition party has experienced lawyers and ex-law enforcement officers. They should keep on blowing the whistle on the regime’s crimes and demand accountability for the Huyndai affair, massive embezzlement in the road-construction sector and other corruption schemes, Lutsenko
