In 2013, the fate of Ukraine’s integration in the European Union will be decided, Serhy Taran of the Kyiv-based Sotsiovymir think tank said, addressing a roundtable held by ZIK TV Jan. 4.
Ukraine’s relations with Russia will be difficult, with Moscow continuing its attempts to force Ukraine into joining the Customs Union. “Moscow opts for serious integration within the CU. It insists on the privatization of Ukraine’s gas pipelines,” the expert said.
“If the ruling party continues its inept policies in 2013, the image of Ukraine will sink even lower and it will be viewed as a non-democratic state rolling back to a dictatorship,” BYUT’s Viktor Ukolov said.
