The Highest Specialized Court is expected to complete its consideration of Yulia Tymoshenko’s appeal in the so-called gas case and give its verdict, Ukrayinska Pravda reports Aug. 21.
The court started its consideration on Aug. 16. Yulia Tymoshenko was not present at the hearings as she is taking treatment in a hospital.
In the gas case, Tymoshenko was found guilty of allegedly abusing her office and signing a highly unfavorable gas supply contract with Russia.
If HSC suspends a lower court verdict, Yulia Tymoshenko can appeal in the European Court for Human Rights.
If HSC cancels the Perchersk court ruling (which is very unlikely), Tymoshenko will be released from jail immediately.
