The European court on human rights has started its hearings of the lawsuit of former Interior Minister Yury Lutsenko and sent an appropriate inquiry to the government of Ukraine. The government is to give its reply to the inquiry by June 3, Yury Hrymchak of NUNS said, speaking on Kanal 5 television May 5.
“We are sending everything we get from the prosecutors to the EC. We have received a refusal by prosecutors to provide a doctor to examine Lutsenko which is in violation of the UN resolution. Under its Art. 91, prosecutors are to ensure access of convicts to doctors they need.
The refusal to provide medical assistance is considered as torture and violation not merely of the right to freedom but also to life and health,” Hrymchak added.
