Almost half of Russians believe that destalinization will distort the historical mindset by making it one-sided.
These are the results of a survey run by the All-Russian Center for Studying Public Opinion, VTSIOM. A quarter of the polled, however, support the destalnization, saying it will help Russia to move ahead by cashing in on the mistakes of the past, UNIAN reports Apr. 28.
Interestingly, the destalinization is approved by both those who had lost their relatives in Stalin purges and those who had not.
The survey indicates that with every year more and more Russians positively assess the role of Stalin in the country’s history, with 15 percent in 2005 and 26% in 2011.
