March 16, Ukraine’s Minister for Families, Youth and Sports Yury Pavlenko signed an agreement with the Bukovel company which owns a modern winter sports complex in the Carpathians to build an Olympic winter stadium. Owners of Bukovel assured that the company will do all it takes to prepare for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Under the agreement, Bukovel will build a modern winter sports complex for biathlon, skiing, freestyle, snowboarding, figure skating, hockey, curling, downhill and other winter events.
According to Oleksandr Shevchenko, the owner of the Scorezone company that runs the Bukovel center, construction will be funded by private investors. The ministry of sports will be able to use the facility for the training of Ukrainian athletes, the agreement says. We are looking forward to staging high-profile international competitions in Bukovel, Oleksandr Shevchenko said.
