With Ukraine’s several anti-corruption agencies, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau is the only truly independent authority, Batkivshchyna lawmaker Alyona Shkrum said, speaking on ZIK TV late Sept. 25.
All other agencies are under the thumb of politicians and president and are ineffective, she said.
Another big problem is the lack of uncorrupt judicial system.
NACB and PGO may submit iron-cast cases to courts but the latter, having received orders from the top, engage in feet-dragging and sabotage. There is no unbiased law enforcement and courts, Alyona Shkrum said.
