The Security Service charged 9 officials of the Zaporizhya Aluminum Plant with the intention to destroy the plant to meet the interests of its rival, RusAl company in Russia.
The plan to ruin ZAP was launched in 2006 by a group of Ukrainian and Russian politicians and businessmen.
To implement their plans, the suspects dismantled and took away valuable equipment, transferring the plant’s assets to businesses linked with Russia, SBU says.
In March 2015, the Supreme Court nationalized ZAP. The decision was appealed against by RusAl.
