According to a source in the Ukroboronprom, the state-run maker of weapons and equipment for the armed forces, Ukraine will start production of small arms rounds, military expert and lawmaker Dmytro Tymchuk writes in The Apostrof July 13.
The country’s sole producer of small arms ammunition, the Luhansk plant, was captured by pro-Russian rebels. It continues work at reduced capacity.
Ukroboronprom is to decide now in which form to organize production and what kinds of ammunition are to be made.
Ukroboronprom suggests cooperation with international companies and attracting investment for the project.
The core strategy is to start production based on NATO standards, a source said.
