One thing the US Senate won’t forgive Vladimir Putin is meddling with the US elections, hence, it will rubberstamp new sanctions against Russia, Ukraine’s ex-foreign minister Volodymyr Ohryzko told The Gordon, July 2.
“It seems to me US legislators would have forgiven Putin much, save for his blatant intrusion in the US elections,” Ohryzko said.
That is why there is a strong likelihood the sanctions will be approved, he said.
“Trump will weigh up the results of the vote. If he realizes his veto can be overcome, he will sign the bill into law at once,” Ohryzko said.
Tougher sanctions will impact the Russian economy.
If the sanctions effect had been insignificant, Putin would have not ordered his diplomats to bend over backwards to have them lifted. Volodymyr Ohryzko said.
