The Ukrainian authorities do not deal with local mayors, former separatists, who remain in power in the newly liberated areas of Donbas, Donetsk-based journalist Denis Kazansky said May 17, speaking on ZIK TV.
Those officials who ran the fake referendum and invited the Russian troops in Donbas are still unpunished, he said.
Only a few of the separatist mayors are in prison, he said.
“In 2014, the mayors of Rubizhne and Dobropillya still hold their offices. Instead of bringing them to justice, the authorities prosecute small fry. A member of the election commission in Druzhkivka, an elderly woman, was put behind bars, the journalist said.
The Ukrainian authorities seem not to learn any lessons from the tragedy in 2014, Denis Kazansky warned.
