The 2015 world chess tournament in Sochi, Russia, brought victory to a Ukrainian girl, Maria Muzychuk. sochi2015.fide.com reports Apr. 6.


The Ukrainian, 22, defeated a Russian finalist, Natalia Pogodina scoring 2,5 points against Pogodina’s 1,5 in a 5-game match. 


Maria wins $60,000 as a champion.

She was born in 1992 in Western Ukraine.

Maria won world and European chess team championship in 2013 as well as the World Chess Olympics in 2012 and 2014.
