94,000 Zakarpatya residents get Hungarian citizenship

According to Arpad Janosh Potapi, Hungary’s state secretary for national policy, so far 94,000 Zakarpatya residents have been given Hungarian citizenship in a simplified procedure, Mukacheve.net reports.

In all, 670,000 applicants out of 710,000, have been granted citizenship. 

Of these, 66% are Romania-based Hungarian, 17% Vojevodina-based and 14% Zakarpatya-based ethnic Hungarians 

Ukraine has earlier criticized Hungary for luring Ukrainian Hungarians to acquire the Hungarian citizenship.

Double citizenship is banned in Ukraine.
