Ukraine is preparing for a likely attack from Putin-controlled TransNistria. Ukraine border guards have set up a checkpoint in the Vinnytsia oblast. They also began to make a 2.5-m deep and 3-m wide trench, border guard Dmytro Topchanenko says.
The trench will be 33 km long.
With 8.5 km of the trench finished, the work continues round the clock, he says.
Along the trench, border guards will install hide-outs, barbed wire fence and watch towers.
