The number of foreign students acquiring higher education in Ternopil is on the rise and has reached 1,500 this year, our correspondent reports Nov. 15.
Foreign students, predominantly from various countries of Africa and Asia, especially favor the Medical University and the Technical University in Ternopil.
Foreign students come to Ternopil on invitations from the universities. When they are dropped they have to leave Ukraine. However, many stay which is a violation of the law.
Former students must leave Ukraine or be extradited forcefully. The immigration official told about a Congolese student who was expelled back in 2011 and has lived in Ukraine since that time. Now he faces extradition to his native country.
