Lviv lawmakers criticize the decision by the National Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting to allocate the frequencies used by the ZIK Radio to a different broadcaster operating from another Ukraine oblast.
The NCRTVB must take into account the needs of local broadcasters, lawmakers say.
The NCRTVB decision is an attempt to muzzle the local broadcaster ZIK known for its impartiality and objectivity, they say.
The incident reflects a similar trend involving other media, notably the 5 Kanal TV and TBi, which had their licenses revoked by the NCRTVB.
On June 19, Rada’s committee for the freedom of speech will address ZIK’s complaint.
