Lviv oblast council gives vote of no-confidence to Governor Horbal
By passing a vote of no-confidence to Governor Vasyl Horbal,Lviv lawmakers condemned the policy of the Party of Regions-led government, says deputy head of Batkivshchyna Lviv branch Roman Ilyk, the party Sept. 8 website statement runs.By initiating a vote of no-confidence, Batkivshchyna lawmakers indicated that Lviv residents do not accept encroachments on democracy, the social policy and changes in ideology implemented by the new Ukrainian regime.
In a telling example, Ilyk says, the Regions-dominated majority refused to impose a moratorium yesterday on utilities hikes.
Governor Horbal has been blatantly violating for 4 months the Ukrainian constitution by double-dipping as lawmaker and executive official, Ilyk claims.
“We cannot remain silent when most of the segments on the Lviv state TV channel are about Vasyl Horbal whereas segments about the activities of Batkivshchyna are repeatedly edited out.
In a related move, the oblast governor did his best to prevent Lviv residents from traveling to Kyiv to take part in a protest rally on Sept. 7 after Lviv private bus companies received clear-cut instructions from the authorities not to carry protesters to Kyiv - on the threat of losing their licenses.
Finally, the vote of no-confidence is a signal to Pres Yanukovych that Lviv oblast residents disagree with his openly anti-Ukrainian policy,” Ilyk concluded.
