Communists threaten to demand Azarov cabinet resignation

The Communists intend to hold debates at their Sept. 7 meeting whether to demand VP Serhy Tihippko’s resignation for his role in drafting the Tax Code.

“All the Azarov cabinet and Pres Yanukovych are doing is to strangle the Ukrainian economy by destroying medium and small businesses. Tihipko is just a small fry in the big ideological game started by the Donetsk businessmen. Therefore, the whole cabinet is to be held accountable,” Hrach claims.

Sept. 3, Premier Azarov introduced the Tax Code draft, which, the premier says, has been approved by experts, the public, businessmen and tax payers.

Meanwhile, the head of VR committee on tax and customs policies, Serhy Tereyokhin, says there was no public discussion of the Tax Code draft.

“The draft was just discussed by Messrs. Kolesnykov, Kliuyev, Azarov and tycoons in one of the cabinet offices,” Teryokhin says.

He has not seen the draft despite being head of VR’s appropriate committee, the lawmaker stressed.

The Tax Code bottom line is to reduce tax load on big international business and increase the load on SMBs, he says.
