1932-1933 genocide in Ukraine was invented by foreign historians, Tabachnyk says
Speaking to Argumenty i fakty v Ukrayini, Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk called the 1932-1933 genocide in Ukraine the invention of foreign historians.“Residents of Ukrainian, Russian, Moldovan, Greek and other villages were dying from starvation. The famine was, to my mind, a political tool to destroy farmers as a social class. However, the famine didn’t have any ethnic dimensions,” Ukrayinska Pravda quotes the minister as saying Sept. 1.
He admitted that the famine of 1932-1933 and 1946-1947 in the USSR was man-made and was caused by the erroneous decisions by the regime.
“Still, the famine was never a genocide because it afflicted farmers of various nationalities,” Tabachnyk said.
Simultaneously, Tabachnyk did not rule out a UN resolution recognizing the 1932-1933 famine as the genocide of Ukrainians, Russians, Kazakhs and Moldovans.
