Ukraine asks Interpol to track down its runaway ex-minister
The ex-economy minister in the Tymoshenko cabinet, Bohdan Danylyshyn, has been put on the Interpol wanted list, Ukrayinska Pravda reports Aug. 31.The ex-minister is accused of inflicting $562,500 in losses to the state by authorizing a one-participant tender to buy construction materials and equipment for the Boryspil airport in Kyiv.
Besides, Danylyshyn is also accused to buying fuel for the army at overestimated prices in 2008-2009 which made a $1.75-million dent in the budget.
The Ukrainian police were alerted after the ex-minister failed to show up for interrogation by prosecutors. The Pechersk court then ordered to detain Danylyshyn and bring him to court.
The rumor was thick in the media that Danylyshyn had fled to Germany. His colleagues in the BYuT bloc say they have no knowledge of his whereabouts.
