SBU questions Ukrainians after their contacts with foreign journalists
The Security Service of Ukraine questions those who talked to foreign journalists, a Frakfurter Allgemeine Zeitung journalist in Ukraine Konrad Schuller told Ukrayinska Pravda.According to him, SBU operatives repeatedly met with those who contacted with him in the course of preparing his materials during the presidential campaign.
The German journalist confirmed he spoke to Ukrainians in late April 2010.
The German wrote an official letter to SBU head Khoroshkovsky, demanding him to explain the purpose and the legal reason of such questioning.
Schuller also told that during his meeting with Pres Yanukovych on Aug. 26 he told the Ukrainian president about the incidents involving SBU.
It should be remembered that the SBU had been repeatedly accused of exerting pressure on journalists. To illustrate, a Russian subject and Komersant-Ukrayiny journalist Artem Skoropadsky was “advised” by SBU operatives, threatening deportation from Ukraine, to stay away from Ukraine rightist politicians.
SBU also summoned a Ukrainian investigating journalist Oleh Shynkarenko, making him refrain from criticizing the regime by signing an appropriate obligation.
