Five ministers may face dismissal in September
In September, Premier Azarov and his cabinet will report on their first 6 months in office. Some ministers may be dismissed for poor performance, The Delo says, referring to Regions heavyweight Volodymyr Rybak.“Based on the cabinet’s report, Pres Yanukovych will decide whether to dismiss inefficient ministers,” Rybak said.
Another source in the Regions told The Delo that the dismissals are very likely, and candidates include Defense Minister Yezhel, Health Minister Mytnyk and Coal Minister Yashchenko.
Asked whether Transport Minister Kostyantyn Yefymenko may lose his job, the source said this minister was appointed under the quota given to the Lytvyn bloc and, thus, is not Regions’ turf.
The source dismissed rumors that Serhy Tihipko is likely to resign. “I have met with him yesterday and, judging by what he was saying, he doesn’t seem to be viewing the resignation,” the source said.
